Fall Adventures ft. prAna

Reflecting back on earlier years of my life, I remember thinking I didn’t have much.

I grew up in a place called Rota; it’s a tiny island (12 miles long x 5 miles wide) that we only partially joking called a rock. There were no movie theaters, fast food joints, or malls and with a population of less than 2,500, everyone knew everyone else. I recall weekends at the beach with family, fishing trips with my dad, camping on our front lawn, massive family sleepovers, and farming with grandpa.

That’s when realized: I had a lot, it was just different.

Knowing that now, I would never give up my childhood. And this realization has definitely opened my eyes. I’ve come to understand that I yearn for adventure and have a constant craving for new experiences that all come from my different past.

Every day I try to take advantage of the new opportunities I have even if it’s something simple like eating at a new restaurant or planning out a weekend hike to a new spot.

“Live fully, play long, travel well.”

The prAna motto really resonates with me especially when I think about my life before and now. They inspire adventure as well as connection to others so when I had the chance to try their fall collection I couldn’t turn it down.  I also knew right away that I wanted to really embrace it through my new hometown. So, I figured why not at my own backyard – the beach.

Dressed in our favorite prAna sweaters, my best friend Nikki and I ventured to Venice, getting to know our town just a little bit better. It took me back to my younger years, roaming around the sand with trees softly swinging against the breeze. It truly connected my history and my now.

I know I have plenty of adventures still to come in far off and exciting places, and I’m sure I’ll pack a little prAna along the way — but for today I am embracing the different that made me who I am and the different that will shape who I will be.
