Nike East Los Angeles

I’m always trying to give every day even when I don’t have much. Something as simple as a smile, a nice comment or a helping hand can make a person’s day. I’m a firm believer in giving back to the community so when I found out that one of my favorite brands, Nike, would be launching a community store in East Los Angeles, I had to go to the grand opening.

The purpose of Nike’s Community Store is to give back and promote positive change through unifying sports, acts of volunteerism, grants and local hiring efforts. This is important for the locals of East LA and I’m most excited for the youth who will have access to affordable gear as well as programs that will benefit them directly. I hope that one day, I can do something as big and awesome as this.

Highlights of the event:

  • Nike Training Club workout for local youth led by our very own Anja Garcia.
  • Nike executives Christiana Shi, President of Global Retail and Blanca Gonzalez, General Manager, West Territory, and Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard welcoming remarks.
  • Giovani Dos Santos a Nike athlete and LA Galaxy player played futsal with young athletes from Roosevelt and Garfield High School.
