Be present : Shanghai, China

This post is long overdue, but I wanted to keep my promise when I said I’d share some photos from my trip to Shanghai in May.

Before we get into it, I want to share with you my state of mind going into the trip. This was my second trip to Shanghai. The first time I visited the city was in 2013 when I was younger, afraid and very much poor. I travelled for work and was in the city for a week. I spent most of my time in the hotel if not at work. I look back with regret that this was the case, but I also understand because I was in a different place mentally.

Now in 2016, I was given another opportunity to visit Shanghai once again for work. This time around I would be in the city for two weeks. I made it my mission to enjoy as much of the city as possible. I didn’t get to see everything, but I was able to discover a lot more than my first trip that’s for sure. Instead of worrying about taking photos for the blog or Instagram, I wanted to simply be present so all the photos at the end of this post were taken by a friend of mine who was also on the trip.

What I’m trying to say is if you’re ever presented with an opportunity to do something awesome, don’t take it for granted because you’re afraid or [insert any excuse here]. Go at it because you may never get that chance again. Also while you’re at it, be present and experience it for you (not for social media).
